Softball became a NCAA sanctioned sport in 1910.The NCAA College World Series is held each year. From 1982 -1987, the championship final was held in Omaha, Nebraska which is also the home of the men's College World Series. The championship was then moved to Sunnyvale, Cal., for 2 years. Since 1990, the finals have been played at the Amateur Softball Association's Hall of Fame Field in Oklahoma City.
